Vintage in Burgundy 2023

I worked in September 2023 for Nico Rossignol in Beaune, Burgundy. This experience lasted for 2 weeks. We worked hard, but the blind tasting for lunch was the reward. I was able to taste different vintages from Nico and from other producers in Burgundy and all around France such as Bordeaux and the Loire. Terroirs and vintages in Burgundy matter! 

That year (or because it was Burgundy), we had to do a lot of sorting, which can be extremely tiring, this is the first time I have thought about that. My favorite task was pigeage/ punch down; feeling the warmth of the ferments and paying attention to where the ferment needs warmth was very pleasant. I would do it again!
